I’ve been sitting on this since August and it gives me great pleasure to finally be able to say “I’m in the November 2015 issue of Marie Claire magazine!”.
This summer in the midst of prepping my boys to go back-to-school, I was emailed by Marie Claire and asked if I was interested in being photographed for their Beauty Roadshow – street style meets beauty story #MCtravels. OF COURSE I WAS!!! The shoot happened in/around Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO. Luckily, it was a fairly chilly August morning because me and my fellow beauties were dressed in our November best.
Shooting with Joel Barhamand was a million times more fun than the daily outfit photos I take of myself (especially because of the added bonus of having so many cool people to chat with for the few hours it took).
The result is on page 180 of the November 2015 issue of Marie Claire (Lea Michele is on the cover).
My high, striking cheekbones command attention. – Valerie Rowekamp, 32
I inherited my now semi-famous cheekbones from my grandma Emma Jean.
I went to one of my favorite stores Evereve at Park Meadows Mall where Joan and Christina helped style my outfit (they styled me in a MOPS Intl charity fashion show in April and I’ve been hooked ever since).
I felt like this outfit really showcased my glamorous Dallas roots and Rocky Mountain style #RockyMtnRowekamps.

Special thanks to Joy Hernon (assistant beauty editor at Marie Claire), Joel Barhamand (photographer)–it was so fun hanging out with you guys and all the interns at Marie Claire involved with coordinating the shoot and carrying camera reflectors around town.
Also, I started a facebook group called Mom Style Collective. It’s a private group for fashion-loving ladies (not just mom–but the lady part is mandatory) to talk about trends, post outfit inspiration, support and style each other. If this sounds like your jam, request to be added (leave a comment here or like this post so I know you’re not just a rando creeper). We’d love to have you!
