OGX provided me with product and compensation. The opinions I have shared about the products and the overuse of hashtags are my own.
Well hello there beauties! Long time, no blog (or much online activity at all). The #RockyMtnRowekamps moved to a new “headquarters” at the beginning of the month and I couldn’t be happier to be done with that transition. Excuse my bluntness, but it must be said–moving sucks (even though it was totally worth it). Totally.
We are now settled into our gorgeous new home in our fabulous new neighborhood and embarking on our #BestSummerEver. Since the last box was unpacked a little over a month ago, I’ve been doing a whole lotta this…
I’ve always been one to fully embrace summer. Since having kids, I like to summer like a kid.
Summertime and the living’s easy.
Less busy. More relaxation. More mindfulness. More light. More reading. More FUN. More of what matters.
Taking hours to get ready and complicated grooming routines… #WeAintGotTimeForThat.
I initially hoped to go natural again this summer but my hair has yet to fully recover from whatever gnarly -ish that happens to female hormones after pregnancy/breastfeeding. My once insanely thick hair is the thinnest I’ve ever experienced in my life. If anyone has experienced this and overcome it, please let me know how you dealt–or we can just commiserate. I honestly could not be more thankful to live in a day and age where we have so many hair options. For now, I’ve opted for a protective style.
I’ve also simplified how I care for my natural hair and the hair I wear with the some summer-tastic hair products by OGX.
OGX’s Argan Oil of Morocco collection delivers the superior hydration my hair needs to handle long summer days in Colorado’s dry heat.
The miracle in-shower oil [a powerful formula blend of argan oil + silk proteins] is multi-tasking perfection. I use it on my hair and body (while still damp) to help seal in moisture before I leave the shower.
I also like to use miracle in-shower oil with the hair butter [argan oil, silk amino acids, soybean oil, coconut oil, and shea butter extract] before I go to the pool so that my hair soaks it up instead of the damaging chlorinated water #SummerHairHack.
As far as heat styling goes, I keep it to a minimum because it’s heat styling makes me cranky when I’m trying to keep cool. I extend the life of my blow outs and flat-ironing with kukui oil. If you have a tropical vacation in the works (or just live in a humid area) consider it a beauty essential.
Now for my most beloved summer hair care product of all…
Coconuts are already my besties because I use some form of coconut (shreds/milk/manna/oil/MCT oil/water) in most of the food I prepare (especially in summer). The nutritional benefits of coconuts extend far beyond just internal use and OGX’s coconut water hydration oil will quench your thirsty hair (and make it smell like a tropical cocktail).
My favorite thing about all of these products is that they’re available at a drugstore near you and cost less than a piña colada.
