Minimizing My Closet + Parisian Chic Outfit #ootd

French fashion is equal parts style and philosophy.  I learned this when I researched Parisian Chic for the #StyleMeFeb February Instagram style challenge by Hilary Rushford.  Parisian chic style is all about simple, classic, ladylike style.

I haven’t mentioned it here but in 2015, one of my major goals is living a minimalist lifestyle.  So far I’ve dramatically reduced my wardrobe by about 10 trash bags full of clothes (and I’m not done yet).  Minimalist style has been perfected by french women and has resulted in less outfit overwhelm for me (and less laundry–#fistbump).  If you are enjoying my return to almost daily outfit photos, you can thank my closet purge….and buy my castoffs at local Denver thrift stores.    I’m very tempted to attempt a capsule wardrobe this summer.

For this Parisian Chic look, I shopped my closet for classic french style staples.  My ladylike tiered rain coat in lieu of a tan trench coat.  A chic simple, striped top (H&M) with a lace shirt extender underneath–I find those here or here.  My favorite H&M jeggings.  Black pumps to make up for the ballet flats that I don’t own.   Very french looking black perforated tote.  My red lipstick completes the look and adds the most perfect pop of color.

This was definitely one of the more transformative outfit prompts of #StyleMeFeb.

Overall, I think it has je ne sais quoi.

Hubby took these pictures. :) green ruffle knit scarf Windsor | tiered jacket GUESS via Victoria’s Secret | white tunic H&M | jeans Paige Premium Denim | purse mondani new york via Ross Dress for Less | ballet flats Target Remember when I desperately needed your opinion about how to spend my mother-in-law gifted Victoria’s Secret Gift Card? Thank you SO much but the voted-on boots were unavailable in my size when I went to purchase them and so I got this flirty tiered raincoat instead…. GUESS at ShopStyle I love everything about it (even the lining) and especially the figure friendly flare at the bottom and while it’s a “raincoat” the hood zips off if I want to wear it like a jacket. Remember Me Red polish courtesy of Superstar Nail Lacquer My studded ballet flats were found at Target on clearance for $5 and I love them. I think the pointy toe makes them more elogating than most flats.
