VIDEO: A Discussion About Breastfeeding in Public

Me. Breastfeeding my 7 month old in a park.

So…I tend to avoid controversy and anything else that I feel tends to divide people rather than unite–it’s just how I roll.  I often talk about breastfeeding, mostly because it is part of my mothering experience and I’ll do whatever I can to normalize it (because we live in a wacky country that attaches all sorts of weirdness to it).  I honestly don’t “get” what’s controversial about how different people choose to feed their children and I think that all parents who try to make informed decisions for their children based on love deserve support.  That being said, here is me and a few of my fellow iVoices discussing public breastfeeding.

In a nutshell, let’s be kind and supportive to each other and focus on what matters most–that our children are being nourished, loved, and cared for…in public.

Love this post! I don’t understand the whole “breastfeeding moms should do it at home!” argument. Do you expect me to stay home for the first 6 months of my baby’s life? Um, no. Not happening. Great video and glad to see support from other women, whether they nurse or not!

I am an expat mum in a buddhist community where you erxpect people to be very conservative.  public breastfeeding in Thai culture is not really offensive http://www.thailand-family-law-center.com/?p=391  so why would it offend the public in western culture- i thought we are supposed to be more ope minded? lol
