VIDEO: Hilarious Interview with the Cast of The Hunger Games

A few weeks ago in Dallas, I had the opportunity to interview three stars from The Hunger Games movie–Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Isabelle Fuhrman (Clove), and Jacqueline Emerson (Foxface).  The interview started out totally normal and then took a turn towards absolutely hilarious/are-we-seriously-talking-about-this about two-thirds through.  So, get ready to learn about the fashion, the costumes, and Forever Lazy’s, “butt flaps”, OnePiece, and Snuggies.  I love my job.

In the interest of this post not being too long, it definitely NEEDS a follow-up because I’ve been checking out that OnePiece brand and I’m kind of obsessed with it now….

And?  Here’s Jacqueline Emerson’s music video ‘Catch Me If You Can’.

I tried to transcribe the whole thing…..really, I did.  But I can’t get past the Snuggie/Forever Lazy part.  Let’s just say “to be continued”.

me: I’m wondering how you think The Hunger Games might might influence fashion (because I definitely think they will)?
JE: The costumes are amazing.
IF: The costumes were great and Judianna [Makovsky], the costume designer, was so interested in making the characters be projected through our costumes. Not in the arena-wear of course because that was just practical clothing that we could wear in the middle of the woods in North Carolina in the summer–and sure we did overheat sometimes but so it was comfortable and we were able to run but as far as the costumes and parade and training center–it really was everything from hairstyles to our clothing was so deeply considered by everyone. So, for the chariots of course you hear about Peeta and Katniss’ costume in the book with the suits and fire capes
JE: They didn’t actually light them on fire.
JH: Au contraire (sp) there were actually flame elements involved.
JE: Oh really? Definitely missed that part.
JH:
IF: That’s amazing.
JE: Totally over my head. Totally over my head.
IF: But for my district, they designed armor–golden armor for District 2 but when you read the books they don’t really discuss it but it was so interesting because it was kind of true. They make the Peacekeepers for the city and it was armor kind of resembling of the peacekeepers at the same time and Roman gladiator armor and your costume…
JE: my costume was awesome, it was covered in all of these intense sequins and stuff to kind of reflect the DNA powered part of the district. I mean, further than that, the boots that we wore in the arena are definitely going to come into fashion because they were so cute! Not only were they so comfortable but they had these buckles everywhere.
IF: The soles were great and we were able to run in them–which was surprising.
JH: mocking Practical AND fashionable.

Who are your favorite designers?
IF: That’s a hard one for me. I love Christian Siriano, Nina Skarra. I like Oscar DeLaRenta…you like Oscar delarenta
JE: Yeah, I’m wearing Oscar delarenta right now
IF: I like HOnor a lot, Opening Ceremony….All Saints (that’s not a designer)…Free People. Other than that I just wear what’s cute.
JH: My favorites are Hanes, Levi’s is the number one contributor to my outfits.
FEB: You and Brett Favre
JH: Me and Brett Favre. Brett Favre?  Levi’s and All Saints are all I wear and Urban Outfitters.
