Ring Finger Nail Polish Trend

In Summer of 2011, a nail polish trend where you paint your ring finger a different (complementary color or design) started and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon.  I totally love this trend because it’s fun, relatively simple, un-boring, and I get to have fun with various color combinations.

You could try this with crackle polish, glitter polish, different shades of polish, using nail art pens to draw a design….the sky’s the limit really.  This week, I’m sporting neon pink on my ring finger.  It also goes along with the Neutral and Neon trend that is coming back this spring 2012.

Please excuse my crappy paint job.  I’ve since learned how to NOT paint my cuticles. 😉

I’ve had these photos uploaded since December but never posted them (except to facebook and instagram).  It’s pretty much the same idea, tweaked a little.

UPDATE: Here are a few more ways I’ve worn the ring finger nail trend.

I also borrowed from the ring finger trend when creating this nail design for my Disney trip.  Tutorial here.

  1. I love the trend, looks young and fun. I’ve noticed lots of celebs wearing multi-colored nails.  I would use caution wearing this trend in the workplace, depending on your office/workplace culture.

  2. I’m glad to hear it is a trend. I’ve sported this look since middle school and received many laughs and eye rolls as a result of it. Great to see that the cool kids are doing it now.
