Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System REVIEW & TUTORIAL

**Welcome!  I posted this review/tutorial over a year ago and it is still one of my most popular posts (thanks to Google and thanks to P&G for the lack of adequate instructions about opening that goshdarn battery compartment!).  I’d love it if you’d stick around and check out other posts and/or find me on the on internet somewhere and say “hi”.  🙂  xoxo Valerie 3/4/12

I have been lusting after a Clarisonic ($200) for awhile now and was so excited to see Olay offer a more budget-friendly option in the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System ($29.99).  Here are my thoughts on the Olay:

Here is what the replacement brushes look like Olay Professional Pro-X Replacement Brush Heads, 2 Count.

What do you think about the Olay Pro-X? Have you found them in stores (I had a hard time which why I went the Amazon route)? Are you intrigued? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Disclosure: I bought the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System myself and am in no way affiliated with the company.

  1. Ok. First: I laughed out loud so many times during this vid! You are a natural at vlogging!! Also? i must buy one of these now…my husband does not thank you. 😉 Great job!

  2. You look awesome even without makeup – jealous! After seeing your video, I’m considering purchasing the Olay version. There’s nothing like a really clean face!

  3. I am interested in your take after a few weeks. I have a Clarisonic that I don’t use because I really don’t see the value in it after having it for a while. A good micro-derm from Philosophy does better for me. But, this is something I could stand behind for sure at a much better value! I love the Pro-X line just as much as I love my Philosophy!!

    Great vlog!

  4. hey girl! thanks for the review. i’m debating whether to get this or the clarisonic. i have very dry, sensitive skin and it’s been flaking like crazy lately. they say with the clarisonic, most people break out for 2 weeks and then see amazing results. how have you found the olay system after using it for a bit?

  5. i may not be the sharpest tack on the wall, but sharp enough to play a competitive game of scrabble, thus the utter frustration at not being able to get to the battery compartment as well! argh! seriously, how did they miss that? i bought mine at costco, and was going to return it unless i found a solution fast on the net regarding the battery issue, and wha la, here you are. thanks, now i’m going to go struggle with it, because on the first few tries, i still can’t unleash that cap! (btw, you can’t get any cuter, and with that skin, you could make a piece of bark look like a pro cleaner!)

  6. I’m late responding to this post but have to say I purchased this and love it. it’s like a mini facial every day 🙂 I love how smooth my face feels after it and I thought my face was already smooth.

And I also had a hard time finding it! Actually went to the store and me and another woman were BOTH looking at the empty shelf at Walmart looking for the same product. Then we both decided to go to Target where I found the last one! Guess word is getting out.

  7. Thank you so much for this demo. Don’t feel bad as I needed your help to find out how to put the batteries in also!!! Even though there are directions on the box, the battery compartment should be clearly labeled for us “challenged” folks! Thanks again for your help!!!

  8. I am going to have to wait for my hubby to get home, to help me break the initial seal on the battery area. It is STUCK. Even using a grippee-thingy.

  9. I may return this item because no matter how hard I try, I can’t get the battery compartment open. This should not be so difficult to open. Perhaps it is difficult because the product is waterproof, but goodness!

  10. At my local grocery store they have these awesome gripping squares that usually help people open hard-to-open jars, lids, etc. I used one to get my battery compartment open, that’s the only way I could! Maybe you could even go to your local dollar store and pick one up, they’re awesome to have in the house.

  11. I honestly thought mine just had a defect and there was no spot to actually put the batteries. I resorted to looking online, good thing I did! At least now I know it’s not just me, hahaha.

  12. Thank you — I was frustrated on lack of instructions on how to open the battery compartment
And looked online & found ur video . U saved my day

U look beautiful – thanks for the video

  13. Hi Valerie~!  I also was lusting over the Clairsonic brush and also found it a bit pricey. I was in Shopper’s Drug Mart (Canada) and saw the ProX brush on sale for 24.99 for the exact same kit as you have.
Thanks for the review, I am definately going to buy it, and I did read on the box if you aren’t satisified with the product after 60 days, send it back with your receipt and they will refund your money! Cool!
    Have a great day!

  14. i’ve been breaking out like crazy after using this:( idk if i’m using it wrong, i’m 18. i use the aveeno clear complexion cleanser with this follwed by the aveeno radiance face lotion and the burts bees night cream at night

  15. great tutorial! thank you so much…. i bought one about 3 months ago and you finally showed me how to open the battery compartment so i could use it! 🙂

  16. Had no problem with the battery compartment though it did take a few tries. I’m frustrated by the lack of user directions. Using the regular brush it does not specify which formula to use with it and there is nothing on the polishing brush-not sure if it’s to be used wet, dry, or in sync with either formula. Looked all over the box and booklet, now online still no answers. I’d like to punch Olay in the ovaries.
