When you think “plaid skirt”, you may think they are just for schoolgirls–think again mamas! Plaid skirts can look great on you whether you’re a mom, working woman, pregnant, or plus size. Plaid skirts are also a fall/winter fashion staple and you really can’t go wrong with this little investment in your style.
Here are some tips for wearing a plaid skirt:
Wear the darkest color from the skirt in the rest of your ensemble. I saw a mom at preschool today wearing a fitted black sweater, black/gray/white plaid skirt, black tights, and black shoes–she looked FIERCE. Really you could pull any neutral color from the skirt and wear it head to toe with your skirt–can’t go wrong with that look.
Try with a variety of tops: button down, basic tee, cardigan, hoodie, vest, etc.
Try with a variety of shoes: flats, heels, boots, sneakers, Uggs, etc.
Accessorize! Try adding a scarf, brooch, jewelry, hat, or…..
Add a skinny belt. In the picture below, it adds a nice pop of color and accentuates her small waist.
