Earlier this week I found a denim corset at Charlotte Russe on clearance for $5 and somehow I managed to resurrect some clothes that never get any love and create a very Anthropologie-looking outfit {YAY!}. This is quite the victory for me and I hope that you are inspired to look at your wardrobe with fresh eyes. This was a Fashion Challenge for me and with the help of my twitter sisters @DrBabyMamaDrama and @NicciNiftyEats, I was able to rock a new outfit that I ADORE!
Shop with an open mind
First off, I would never in a million years buy/look at/try on a denim corset….unless it was $5. Seriously, I was just planning on wearing it around the house (lingerie) or using it for a costume or something. I was really digging the effect that the boning had on my abdomen. So, I encourage you to shop with an open mind even if you have no clue how the piece of clothing will fit into your wardrobe.
Try it on and use your imagination
I tried it on with my cargo skinny jeans and really wasn’t feeling it but I knew I couldn’t wear it with denim so I pulled this skirt out of my “giveaway” pile and magic happened….

I posted this picture on twitter and asked one of the most stylish girls I know for advice. She said I should try it with a blazer. So I put on this Lacoste blazer that I haven’t worn in years.

THEN I tried it on with this old cardigan….

Yay!!! Fashion victory is MINE!!!! I feel like I evolved just a touch and it feels GREAT. I can’t wait to really dress it up and go out.
